Gardening has a unique significance in promoting healthy ecosystem and protecting our environment. It is an act of growing plants and taking care of them by getting in touch with the nature in a relaxing manner. At Justin’s Home, we started our garden long ago to keep our children engaged in some kind of physical activities and also, as a part of their curriculum. Our children of Justin’s Home are always enthusiastic to plant their garden and nurturing it. It has become their daily routine to engage in gardening activities.
The joy the children show from planting a sapling, watering and taking care of it, has the potential to make the beholder’s heart content. Gardening is a good kind of therapy which is effective in sensory enhancement, overall development and even emotional stability of those engaged in it. Moreover, the person does not feel like that they are working or doing an exercise, as it gives a sense of relaxation and satisfaction.
Differently - Abled children are often left out of many social situations. We believe that gardening brings them together and fosters their social interactions. Today, we have a wide range of floral and other plants in our garden. Along with their happiness, gardening makes them feel fresh and uplifted. It is one of the best activities for people who suffer from various mental conditions. It is observed that thirty minutes of gardening helps in reducing stress hormones and in improving them better in person. It makes them feel positive and energized.
Each plant in our garden is the work of our children. Each blooming flower reminds us of our children. There is a wide range of benefits for them from gardening. Gardening assists them in the development of communication and social skills by being involved in groups and community activities and confidence in achieving a new skill, in addition to their cognitive development in coordination and concentration.
